When Etsy places your listing on Google Shopping, Facebook, or Pinterest and a buyer purchases within 30 days, Etsy charges an additional 15% offsite ads fee (or 12% if your shop earned $10,000+ in the past 12 months). This stacks on top of the normal listing, transaction, and payment processing fees. Use the table below to see exactly what this costs at every sale price.
Under $10k/year
15%
Applied to item price only (not shipping). Sellers earning under $10k annually are enrolled by default but can opt out in Shop Manager → Finances → Offsite Ads.
$10k+/year (mandatory)
12%
Reduced rate for high-volume sellers. Cannot be opted out once your shop crosses $10,000 in sales in the prior 12-month window. Applied to item price only.

The fee is charged when Etsy places your listing on an external platform (Google Shopping, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, or Bing) and a buyer clicks that ad and then purchases from your shop within 30 days. Etsy calls this a qualified order. You are charged regardless of whether you knew the ad ran or which platform it appeared on.
Only if your shop has earned less than $10,000 USD in Etsy sales over the past 12 months. Go to Shop Manager → Finances → Offsite Ads and toggle the program off. Once your shop crosses $10,000 in annual sales, enrollment becomes mandatory and you receive the reduced 12% rate. You cannot opt out at that point.
No. Unlike the 6.5% transaction fee (which applies to item price + shipping), the offsite ads fee applies to item price only. If you charge $25 for an item and $5 for shipping, the 15% offsite ads fee is $3.75 — calculated on the $25 item price, not the $30 total.
Etsy automatically switches you to the 12% rate after your shop reaches $10,000 in Etsy revenue over any rolling 12-month window. You will see a notification in Shop Manager. The 12% rate applies immediately to all subsequent qualified offsite-ads orders — not retroactively.
Etsy only charges the fee when a sale actually happens through an ad — there is no charge for impressions or clicks that do not convert. However, because it adds 12–15% on top of your existing fees, it compresses margins significantly on lower-price items. Sellers who can opt out should model the impact: if your typical item is under $20 with thin margins, opting out may protect profitability. For higher-price or high-margin items, the incremental reach may justify the cost.
Multiply your item price (not including shipping) by 15% (or 12% for $10k+ sellers). On a $30 item, the 15% fee is $4.50. Combined with the normal listing, transaction, and payment fees (~$3.32 on a $30 item), total fees become $7.82 — about 26% effective rate.
No. Etsy selects which listings to promote based on its own algorithm. Not every listing will appear in offsite ads, and Etsy does not guarantee any minimum advertising level. You will only be charged when a sale actually results from an ad click.
Yes. In Shop Manager → Orders, orders that triggered an offsite ads fee are labeled. Your monthly statement also itemizes offsite ads fees separately from your regular transaction and processing fees.
No. The 30-day attribution window starts from the buyer's first click on your offsite ad. Only one offsite ads fee is charged per qualified order regardless of how many times the buyer revisited your shop.
For a $25 item (no shipping, 15% offsite ads, US): $0.20 listing + $1.63 transaction + $1.00 processing + $3.75 offsite ads = $6.58 total fees — a 26.3% effective rate vs 11.3% without offsite ads.
